Meaningful Work Experience

The YearBeyond Youth Service programme is underpinned by the inclusion of a meaningful work experience which provides the young person with a real work experience, hard and soft skills and opens a range of career opportunities for them.

As such the YeBoneer will be able to articulate:  

  • A clear job description / statement of experience detailing what they have done, with whom and for what purpose/outcome.

  • All the skills – hard and soft – that they will have acquired during their year of service.

  • The 12 competencies that they will build during their year of service. YeBoneers will build 9 core competencies and three specific competencies related to their work experience placement. The competencies are measured against a set of indicators that form the basis of YeBoneer performance.
