Shukuma Programme
The YearBeyond Shukuma Programme targets Grade 8 and 9 learners in low- and no-fee public schools. The programme equips learners with social and emotional skills to regulate their emotions and respond to experiences of violence in healthy, productive ways.
What do YeBoneers do?
YeBoneers on the YearBeyond Shukuma Programme serve as Life Skills Facilitators.
As a YeBoneer in the Shukuma Programme your role will include (amongst other activities):
Facilitate Life Skills Sessions: Lead weekly sessions to help learners develop important social and emotional skills.
Support Educators: Assist teachers with school-related tasks during the school day.
Run After-School Programmes: Organise fun and engaging activities for learners to enjoy after school.
Track Progress: Collect data on learner attendance and programme activities to drive success.
What are the eligibility requirements?
You can apply for the YearBeyond Shukuma Programme if:
You are 20-25 years old.
You have a matric certificate.
You live within a 5km radius of one of the schools where the programme is implemented.
You enjoy facilitation and working with learners.
Meeting these eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection for the programme. To be considered, you must meet the eligibility requirements and then be selected through the recruitment selection process.
