About the Catch-Up Programme  

The YearBeyond Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Programme works with low- and no-fee public schools, supporting Grade 3 and 4 learners (achieving codes 2 to 4) in closing their foundational literacy and numeracy gaps. The programme improves academic outcomes (higher progression, fewer dropouts, etc.) and non-academic outcomes (increased self-esteem, confidence, etc.).

What do YeBoneers do?

YeBoneers in the YearBeyond Catch-Up Programme serve as Academic Tutors.

As a YeBoneer on the Catch Up Programme your role will include (amongst other activities):

• Inspire Young Readers: Lead fun and engaging one-on-one paired reading sessions.

• Build Bright Futures: Facilitate exciting Literacy and Numeracy after-school programmes.

• Support Classroom Success: Assist Grade 3 & 4 teachers with lessons and activities.

• Track Progress: Collect data on learner attendance and programme activities to drive success.

What are the eligibility requirements?

You can apply for the YearBeyond Catch-Up Programme if:

• You are 18-25 years old.

• You have a matric certificate.

• You live in or close to one of the areas where the programme is implemented.

• You are passionate about working with learners.

Meeting these eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection for the programme. To be considered, you must meet the eligibility requirements and then be selected through the recruitment selection process.
