Programmes
Youth in YearBeyond work in one of three areas.
The programmes tackle challenges that communities face in education, social cohesion, or wellbeing.
-
Education
YearBeyond’s education programmes provide learners in low- and no-fee public schools with literacy, numeracy, life skills, and psychosocial support, and literacy and physical development support for pre-school children and their caregivers.
YearBeyond has four education programmes: Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Programme, WCED @HomeLearning Programme, Scouting in Schools Programme, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme.
-
Social Cohesion
YearBeyond’s social cohesion programmes build bridges between community spaces that provide public services and the communities they serve. This includes broadening access to facilities and services, building a culture of reading, and raising public awareness around key issues.
YearBeyond has two social cohesion programmes: Libraries Programme and Placemakers Programme.
-
Community Wellbeing
YearBeyond’s community wellbeing programmes create spaces for teenagers, young adults, and community members that support them in caring for their physical health, developing emotional regulation and wellbeing skills, tackling substance abuse, and processing trauma.
YearBeyond has three community wellbeing programmes: Planet Youth Programme, Shukuma Programme, and Wellbeing Champions Programme.
