YearBeyond awarded the Social Justice Award

The 2023 Social Justice Awards took place on October 11th at the Artscape Theatre Complex in Cape Town. This annual event honours individuals and programmes dedicated to promoting and advancing social justice and unity in our communities.

YearBeyond received the prestigious Social Justice Bridge Builder Award, a testament to the organisation's commitment to prioritising youth and connecting them with social networks, opportunities and, ultimately encouraging their economic participation.

This award also provides an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contributions of our partners, whose collaboration is instrumental in the success of the programme. Through a collaborative partnership model, YearBeyond works with partners in the public, private, and NGO sectors to make a meaningful impact on the YeBoneer’s and the community’s future.

Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport Minister Anroux Marais expressed her pride in the YearBeyond programme for this achievement, “This programme is doing so much to bring hope to youth across our province and this award is well deserved in recognising the important work that they do.” she said.

This award is both recognition and a celebration of:
✅ A network partnership model that works (public, private and the NGO sector working together)
✅ The importance of prioritising youth
✅ Creating bridges for young people to build their social networks and become economically active
✅ The need to address inequalities by expanding access to services for our most vulnerable communities
✅ Our responsibility to reignite hope and possibilities through our work
