YearBeyond’s Biggest Youth Opportunities Expo Season Yet!
The YearBeyond Opportunities Expos have kicked off for the year. Starting in the Cape Metro with nearly 1,000 young people in attendance and over 60 partner organisations, this is the largest expo since the first one two years ago. So far, the Winelands and Eastern Cape expos have shown the same energy and commitment to addressing youth unemployment.
YeBoneers travelled from all corners of their communities and beyond to connect with opportunities in fields such as health, education, retail, and camp counselling. The expos are designed to equip young people with the tools, networks, and confidence needed to transition from their service placements to meaningful economic opportunities. Across the sites, more than 130 opportunity partners were present, engaging with the YeBoneers.
In the Western Cape, Premier Alan Winde and DCAS Minister Ricardo Mackenzie attended the expo, encouraging YeBoneers to make the most of the opportunity and thanking partners for their commitment to supporting young people.
In line with YearBeyond’s mission, these expos go beyond typical job fairs by empowering young people with the skills and confidence they need for the workforce, further education, or entrepreneurship. “We understand that meaningful transitions require more than just connections they require confidence. The Expo reflects our commitment to providing youth with both the opportunities and the self-belief needed to step into the next phase of their lives,” said Jacqui Boulle, head of YearBeyond.
YearBeyond is actively bridging the gap between young talent and the professional world. As the first of four expos this season, the Cape Metro event is just the beginning. YearBeyond will continue to support YeBoneers across the region with three additional expos throughout October and November.
The final expo takes place in George.
